What digital supports are available?

CLIPS are web-based interactive mathematics supports for students. The site offers interactive lessons, activities, games, quizzes and learning tools developed by the Ontario Ministry of Education. CLIPS provide precise, personalized activities for learning, re-learning or enrichment.

mathies Games offers a number of fun, interactive virtual games. Electronic and print versions are also available for download. These games help students understand key mathematical concepts. Games continue to be developed by the Ontario Ministry of Education and support teaching and learning strategies commonly used in today’s mathematics classrooms.

ExploreLearning.com offers hundreds of interactive online simulations (called GIZMOS) for math. These GIZMOS are fun, easy to use, and help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through exploration.

GIZMOS allow students to take measurements, record data, calculate, experiment and graph information quickly so they can spend time thinking deeply about mathematical concepts.

 

Access Information: Login at www.explorelearning.com using the password or class code provided by a teacher. A free 30-day trial is also available. Gizmos has been licensed by the Ministry of Education for students in Grades 7-12 of publicly funded schools.

 

 

mathies Learning Tools allows students to explore and deepen understanding of mathematical concepts. Electronic and print versions are also available for download. Learning Tools continue to be developed by The Ontario Ministry of Education and are similar to the manipulatives students commonly use in today’s classrooms.

The Ontario Educational Resource Bank (OERB) offers a growing number of free digital activities and interactive learning resources for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 of publicly funded schools. The activities and resources are easy to use and are aligned with the Ontario curriculum.

The OERB has also been integrated in to the provincial virtual learning environment (vLE). Choose your board from http://courses.elearningontario.ca/ and use your individual username and password.
